Notes on Tech, Social Media, and Entrepreneurship … Are you with the Band?

Nothing better than making Hamentaschen on Purim. The tradition is to make and give gift baskets containing Hamentaschen (triangular filled cookies) to friends and family. So I made… and received. Now a kid on a diet has a counter full of cookies. Eeeks!

Reb Zusha was on his death bed, and tears were
streaming down his face. “Why are you crying?” asked his disciples. “If
God asks me why I wasn’t like Moses or Maimonides,” answered Reb Zusha,
“I’ll say, I wasn’t blessed with that kind of leadership ability and
wisdom.” But I’m afraid of another question,” continued Reb Zusha,
“what if God asks, Reb Zusha, why weren’t you like Reb Zusha? Why
didn’t you find your inner being and realize your inner potential? Why
didn’t you find yourself? That is why I am crying.”
I am not a man who, unlike my rabbis and teachers growing up, conveys ideas through ancestral anecdotes. But I just read one of the more inspiring blog posts I have read in a long time. Shabbat Shalom.

What’s your purpose?
One thing I have found fascinating about the internet is that it is a way of bringing to light some of the most obscure and previously barely known artifacts. I saw this first on Amazon, which would carry not only the more popular books but also long-forgotten titles that you could not imagine were still in existence. The internet has become our new library, storing everything imaginable, even those seemed doomed for exodus from our world. Who would have thought that you could go online, and just as easily watch Barack Obama announce his presidency, watch Nina Simone sing “Eretz Zavat Chalav?”

I am going to make a point to try and make one post a day from now on, on something interesting in the news, a reaction to something I hear, or whatever randomly makes its way into the spongy stuff between my ears. The actual reason I have not posted in a while is because I have chosen to focus my time on a side project of mine. And through that, it’s given me insight into the kind of person I am, and my goals for the future, in career and life in general. Read the rest of this entry »
Even though I personally chose all the feeds that I am subscribed to in my feed reader, I still spend most of the time scanning through junk and repetitive posts (since every blog tends to spend a lot of time repeating posts found on other blogs), but one article popped up this morning that really caught my attention. Haven’t posted in a while. No excuses. Moving on.
An absurd amount has been going on recently in my life. Besides working my tush off for my job (12 hour days are killer), I’ve been busy as hell in my free time as well…. Read the rest of this entry »

Missed me! Missed me! Now you’ve gotta kiss me!
My name is Zvi Band (pronounced zuh-vee), and I write this blog. You'll hear me talk about technology, social media, digital strategy, and entrepreneurship, all of which I am interested in.
I recently graduated (Go Terps!) and am working full time, however my heart lies in entrepreneurship. Watch me!
